A new beginning for one of our own…

Bill has suffered with homelessness and alcoholism for over 3 decades. He was referred to AOC from the VA Medical Center after a recent alcohol binge.

Bill was diagnosed with military trauma, PTSD and depression after he was connected to VA services through the MHP VetTran Program. He was determined to be 100% service connected and unemployable. This meant a large disability award for him. He was able to save money while staying at AOC and find permanent housing.

He is now a volunteer escort at the VA Medical Center, and is engaged in substance abuse treatment.  In our last meeting, he reported being sober for over 120 days. I have a great deal of respect for our Veterans and am proud to serve them in this way. All of us here at MHP wish Bill nothing but continued success and happiness.
