Volunteer Opportunities

We Need Your Help

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our initiative and we’re always in need of passionate people willing to make a difference in our community.

If you’re interested volunteering, fill out the form below now! For more info, please contact Lisa Maury at (505) 615-8390 or email at mhp.volunteer@gmail.com

Volunteer Orientation:

We host a regular Volunteer Orientation every second Monday of each month from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at 715 Candelaria Rd NE.

At the orientation, we’ll walk through the volunteer application process. Please note, we conduct background checks on all volunteers wishing to volunteer regularly. The background check costs $15.00. To download a volunteer application please click the following link: Application.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Classroom Facilitators: Assisting our residents in developing important life skills. We currently need facilitators who can lead evening classes on employment development and basic computer skills. MHP would also be interested in hosting classroom facilitators who would like to provide classes in other areas including: household management, budgeting, sober living, anger management, nutrition, or accessing community resources.

Respite Care Drivers: Providing the men who are currently staying in our Respite Care Program with afternoon rides to their medical appointments.

Dorm Assistants: Supporting evening operations at our shelter. Dorm assistants monitor community spaces, organize donations, and provide information and supplies to our residents.

Medical Support: Registered nurses, EMT’s, and licensed doctors who provide medical support to residents in our Respite Care Program.

Custodial Services: Assisting staff with building maintenance and cleaning services at our dorm.

Social Service Support: Mental health and social service professionals who provide our residents with support in accessing benefits and housing resources, or who offer therapy and treatment services at our dorm.

Spiritual Companions: Providing a non-judgmental listening ear to our residents. Our spiritual companions are non-denominational volunteers who support our resident’s emotional and spiritual needs.

Special Skills: Supporting MHP in your own way. Past volunteers have provided service such as massage therapy, acupuncture, office assistance, and event coordination. If you have a special skill that you believe would benefit our residents, please let us know!
